Sebec Lake camp owners
speak out!

Gary,
Dave asked me to forward an e-mail I sent him regarding the proposed park into the comments section on the website.

Dave;

I was glad to see the Association come out in opposition to the proposed federal park. We own, with some other hunters, a deer camp in northeastern Vermont, that is on land the Feds bought from Champion. Their stated purpose is to red the area of camps, stop trapping, etc. I suspect that the traditional uses will quite rapidly start disappearing. The same will happen to the north woods of Maine; not to mention - ' who is going to pay the taxes". It seems that federal park policy is at odds with many of the traditional uses of a working forest. However, if the handwriting is on the wall, the opposition groups should start looking at ways that they can influence the process and try to preserve as much of the traditions as possible. Just some random thoughts on a subject that is very important to all that live, earn a living, and enjoy the north Maine woods.

best regards,

Cleve Patterson
